TEXAS STATEWIDE FREE MCE EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY For All Licensed Real Estate Brokers Under The "1991 MCE OPT OUT" STATUS

Since 1991, and unless repealed, lasting for both the natural life and active licensure of an exempted individual, select Texas Real Estate Brokers are not required to attend MCE nor complete other continuing education requirements. The statute creating this exemption is below for a convenient reference.

CHANGES? What Changes? I've been...
...doing business this way for over 20 years!

TRELA Sec. 1101.456. EXEMPTION FROM CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN BROKERS. Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a broker who, before October 31, 1991, qualified under former Section 7A(f), The Real Estate License Act (Article 6573a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), as added by Section 1.041, Chapter 553, Acts of the 72nd Legislature, Regular Session, 1991, for an exemption from continuing education requirements is not required to comply with the mandatory continuing education requirements of this subchapter to renew the broker's license.
(V.A.C.S. Art. 6573a, Sec. 7A(f) (part).)

Why is it ... how does it get so confused ... that some say "EVERY BROKER" has to take the Bienniel Legal/Ethics Update MCE for license renewal? Probably because of the TREC Rule below, not read in context with TRELA Sec. 1101.456 above. Note: A broker exempted from the Bienniel Legal/Ethics Update MCE can still be qualified to teach other licencees MCE.
